Lovely Professional University

Campus:- The university campus spreads over 600 acres (2.4 km2)[5] in boundary on the outskirts of Jalandhar and houses over 30,000 students (as of 2020).[5]

Affiliations:- In India, LPU is recognised by the University Grants Commission (UGC),[6] the National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE)[7] and the Council of Architecture (COA)[8] and approved by the Pharmacy Council of India (PCI).[9] It is also a member of the Association of Indian Universities(AIU).[10]

LPU's School of Agriculture is accredited by the Indian Council of Agricultural Research(ICAR).[11] Internationally, LPU is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Business Schools and Programs (ACBSP)[12] and a member of the Association of Commonwealth Universities(ACU).[13] The School of Law is temporarily approved by the Bar Council of India (BCI) until 2018–2019.[14] The distance education programmes are approved by the Distance Education Bureau (DEB).[15] LPU offers overall more than 50 courses.[16]

The National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) ranked Lovely Professional University 99 overall in 2020,[17] and 78 among universities.[18] It also ranked it 49 in the management ranking[20] 29 in the pharmacy ranking[21] and 87 in the engineering ranking.[19]

Issues:- In April 2011, during a football game a student was beaten by opposition team members and died a few hours later in hospital. The beaten student was from Mizoram and the three accused were Sudanese and Tanzanian.[22] The racial aspect of the crime led to near-rioting on the campus by students, destroying a number of kiosks and cars as well as blocking of the NH1 which attracted a huge media interest. Tension continued with the university closed for three days, and with police being pelted with stones by angry students.[23] LPU Pro-Chancellor Rashmi Mittal described the attack as, "students didn’t take the spirit of the game in a positive manner".[24] The university's management have also been criticized for ignoring earlier and later racial attacks.[25]

In January 2015, students of Lovely Professional University were caught under NDPS Act and RTI Act.[26]

In November 2017, LPU students go on a rampage as police arrested a hosteller from Jalandhar Cantonment railway station in a case of extortion.[27]

LPU ke Campus ke under ek pura city basa hua h jaha apko gardens, lawns, Makan, Imaratein aur Lambi Sadke dekhai deti hai. LPU ke pas apni khud ki Pani aur bijli ki suvidha mojud hai, is ke sath hi roz marrah ki jarurato ke samano ke liye LPU ke bhitar hi ek Shopping Complex bhi mojud hai. Parisar ki bhitar ek Hospital bhi mojud hai jo Saptah k satho din aur din k 24 ghante (24*7) seva me uplabdh hai.[6]
